Living above the supermarket – Biedronka Bergamotki, Warsaw
A Biedronka supermarket with flats on the upper floor was built in the Stegny district of Warsaw. Stegny is part of Warsaw's Mokotów district and is located on the southern outskirts of the city. Although the city centre seems quite close when you look at the map, it would take just over half an hour to get there by public transport and 20 minutes by car, unless you are travelling during rush hour.
A good local supply right on the spot, in the district, is therefore essential. Several retail businesses, bakers and butchers have therefore settled in Stegny. In order not to unnecessarily take away already scarce living space from the population, it was decided in the case of the Biedronka market to combine local supply and living in the same building.
However, a critical aspect of this combination, which is valuable for the consumer, is the associated noise problem. The actual operation of the market as well as delivery periods, the restocking of shelves and various other everyday events in the market lead to rolling and impact noises. These propagate as structure-borne sound in the building.

Coexistence of local supply and disturbance-free living
Adequate impact noise protection is essential for any supermarket. The Biedronka Bergamotki, however, was an object that required special attention in terms of sound insulation due to its opening hours. The market is open 17 hours a day. From 6 in the morning until 11 in the evening. The operation in the early morning and into the late evening hours therefore increased the need for sound insulation enormously. It was decided to use the highly effective impact sound insulation mat REGUPOL sound 17 under the screed. Thanks to this measure, a peaceful coexistence of undisturbed living and unrestricted local amenities prevails in the building.
